Inflationary Shock: Experts Named the Price-Raising Record Product.

Over the two years of war, prices in Ukraine have increased by 44.2%, significantly affecting the purchasing power of Ukrainians. This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service, analyzed by Radio Liberty.
Prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages have risen the most - by 50.8%. Fruits have become the record-holders for price growth, which increased by 109.8%. The least expensive items were oils (except olive) - only up by 6.7%.
Prices have also risen significantly in other categories: transport became 57.1% more expensive, electricity - by 177.6%, home appliances - by 30.1%, and medicines and medical supplies - by 45.4%.
«The cost of one kilowatt from a generator is dozens of times higher than what an average consumer pays. It is clear that businesses pass these costs onto prices,» explains the executive director of the CASE Ukraine analytical center, Dmytro Boyarchuk.
Economist Oleg Pendzin notes the impact of the poor harvest on prices: «We collected 30% less potatoes. Accordingly, the price of potatoes has gone up. 70% of the cost of an egg is feed, corn. We gathered minus 10 million tons of grain. It should be understood that this could not have had no impact on the price.»
According to experts, the main reasons for the price increase are the poor harvest and the destruction of Ukraine's energy system. The decrease in sown areas due to Russian aggression also had a negative impact.
Experts predict further price increases at least until the end of winter, as generators are being used instead of regular electricity supply. The development of the economic situation will depend on international aid and the security situation in the country.
