Pensioners will start receiving an additional 1000 hryvnias per month: how to apply for assistance.

Lonely pensioners in Ukraine will receive nearly 1000 hryvnias each month. This provision is stipulated by the Law of Ukraine 'On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Increase of Social Guarantees for Certain Categories of Persons and Government Decisions'.
Ukrainian pensioners can receive special support and monetary payments. One form of support is the monthly supplement to the pension, which is calculated based on the minimum living wage. Until 2024, pensioners over the age of 65 may receive an additional 944 hryvnias, which constitutes 40% of the minimum living wage of 2361 hryvnias.
Note that financial assistance is granted only to Ukrainians who meet the following requirements:
- 80 years or older;
- lonely;
- receive an age pension;
- need regular care due to health conditions.
If a lonely pensioner requires constant care due to health conditions, this must be confirmed by medical documents and doctors' conclusions.
It is important to note that the supplement can only be received by pensioners over 80 years old if they receive only an age pension. Those who receive a disability pension are not entitled to this additional payment.
To receive the supplement, pensioners need to contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) with a set of documents, including doctors' conclusions, passport and TIN, as well as a certificate of absence of other payments besides the pension.
If the PFU approves the pensioner's application, the supplement of 944 hryvnias will be paid monthly along with the regular pension.
