Case of the Deputy Minister of Energy's Bribe: SSU Released Intercepted Conversations.


The Security Service of Ukraine published conversations intercepted between participants of a corruption scheme involving the transfer of mining equipment. The Deputy Minister of Energy is suspected of receiving a $500,000 bribe for facilitating this deal.
According to the case materials, in exchange for a $500,000 bribe, the official, using his powers, promised the heads of state enterprises of the Lviv-Volyn coal basin to transfer mining equipment from the frontline region of Donetsk without obstacles.
According to the SSU, the case involves unique and scarce equipment from one of the state coal companies located in the hottest direction of the eastern front – Pokrovsk.
Recall that the Security Service and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, with the assistance of the Minister of Energy, uncovered a large-scale corruption scheme organized by his deputy. As a result of comprehensive measures, law enforcement officers detained the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy in Kyiv for a $500,000 bribe.
The Higher Anti-Corruption Court arrested Serhiy Pylypchuk, a trusted person of the Deputy Minister of Energy Oleksandr Kheil. A bail of 65 million UAH has been set for him. According to the investigation, money characterized as undue benefit was transferred through Pylypchuk for the decision to transfer coal mining equipment.
Deputy Minister of Energy Oleksandr Kheil has been taken into custody with bail set at 25 million UAH. This decision was made by the investigative judge of the HACC Nataliya Movchan.
