The situation at the front for Ukraine is not as dire as at the beginning of 2024 - analysts.

Ukraine continues to receive support from the West
Experts from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) claim that Ukraine currently has a better situation than before. They note that the country continues to receive support from the West and is working on improving military management. This helps to avoid further failures on the battlefield.
Although 2024 has brought its challenges for Ukraine, its armed forces have managed to hold back Russia and inflict significant losses. This indicates that Russia's successes on the battlefield are not decisive, despite issues with ammunition and manpower.
Additional resources needed
IISS believes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently not in a critical situation with weapons. However, to effectively counter the Russian offensive and liberate occupied territory, more modern weapons, especially of Western manufacture, are needed. Additional material resources are also necessary. The West must continue to provide support to avoid worsening the situation.
'The main problem Ukraine faces is the management and distribution of personnel,' emphasizes IISS.
Problems with command and control
Some brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which were sent to difficult front areas, encountered issues with the formation process and suffered significant losses. This creates problems in command and control of the troops. Command and control issues also affect the motivation to serve in the Ukrainian army. However, to improve the country's military capabilities, these problems must be addressed. Ukraine has enough unmobilized personnel to fill the gaps in the units. According to rough estimates, the need is for an additional 50,000 to 100,000 servicemen.
