Scandinavians do not like. A deputy of the State Duma made a strange statement about the admission of Russians to competitions.

State Duma deputy of the Russian Federation and Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova believes that the nationality of the leaders of international federations can influence the ability of Russian athletes to participate in competitions. According to her, the nationality of leaders is of great importance and can affect the participation of Russians in tournaments. She emphasized that there is a Scandinavian lobby in skiing that is not favorable to Russian athletes. According to Zhurova, even with permission to participate in competitions, Russians may not be allowed into Scandinavian countries.
Mirra Andreeva liked the posts of multiple-Time Russian championship medalist in alpine skiing Anton Endzhievsky.
Anton Endzhievsky, who is an activist of the 'People's Front' organization and is under sanctions from several countries, posted on social media photos of providing aid to the occupiers. In turn, Mirra Andreeva and her sister also posted pictures with Endzhievsky and Nikolai Olyunin. It is worth mentioning that Olyunin was a trusted person of Putin in the 'presidential elections' of 2024.
The Ukrainian Olympic champion believes that the leadership of sports federations can have a decisive impact on Russian athletes who may face restrictions due to the nationality of the leaders. It is also stated that public recognition of athletes can be an influential factor in their activities outside of sports competitions.
Ukrainian Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova expressed her opinion about the impact of the nationality of leaders on the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions. She emphasized that factors such as national lobbies or personal connections with politicians can limit opportunities for Russian athletes. This opinion arose after publications about the connections of some athletes with individuals who are well-known in Russia but raise skepticism abroad.
