A man threw a grenade in the park of Nizhyn

In the park of Nizhyn, a drunken man threw a grenade, causing an explosion. The police detained the offender at the scene. This was reported by 'Glavkom' with reference to the police of the Chernihiv region.

«As a result of the explosion, there are no casualties. The police immediately detained a 44-year-old local resident who was involved in the explosion,» the law enforcement officers added.

Patrol police response crews and the investigative-operational group of the Nizhyn district police department were immediately sent to the scene, and other emergency services were informed.

Preliminary data and similar incidents

It is preliminarily known that a drunken man was resting in the park and threw an unknown projectile towards the trees.

In connection with this fact, the police are investigating a criminal proceeding under part 4 of article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism), which is punishable by imprisonment for up to 7 years.
