People in Transnistria protest over gas supply cessation (photo).

Residents of Transnistria are protesting due to the cessation of gas supply, blaming the Moldovan authorities for it. Demonstrators gathered with flags and banners at the checkpoints in Bender, Ribnita, and Dubossary. The Moldovan authorities reacted to the protests, claiming that these actions are part of an attempt by the Kremlin to create tension and a security situation. The leader of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, reported that the gas reserves in the region would last only a few days, and coal reserves – until February 16-17. He also accused Moldova of obstructing gas supply. Earlier, Moldova offered assistance to Transnistria in purchasing gas through European platforms, but the region rejected this proposal.
The Moldovan government and the authorities in Transnistria continue to seek solutions to provide gas to the region, but no results have been achieved yet.
