Ukrainian referees will work at the European basketball championship matches.


Five Ukrainian FIBA referees have been selected by the European Basketball Federation (FIBA Europe) to officiate at the summer championships in Europe. Among them are the names of referees such as Serhiy Zashchuk, Oleksandr Oparin, Denys Povorozniuk, Yuriy Shcherbak, and Yevhen Nahonny.
Serhiy Zashchuk has been included in the list of referees for the EuroBasket 2025 final tournament, which will take place from August 27 to September 14 in Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia. In addition, he will also officiate at the U-18 European Championships in Division A and the U-16 European Championships in Division B.
Oleksandr Oparin and Denys Povorozniuk will officiate at four European Championships
For the first Time, referees Yevhen Nahonny, Oleksandr Oparin, Denys Povorozniuk, and Yuriy Shcherbak have been invited to three youth European championships. Unfortunately, Yevhen Nahonny suffered an injury, which means he will have to withdraw from work.
Assignments for important tournaments
According to Denys Povorozniuk, all referees have been assigned to three or more European championships, which indicates the high level of trust in the work of the FBU refereeing corps.
The decision to suspend Russian and Belarusian clubs and national teams from FIBA tournaments was made at the organization meeting in Bahrain.
