Former Suzuki chairman Osamu Suzuki has died
At the age of 94, after battling malignant lymphoma, former CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation Osamu Suzuki has died. He led the company for 40 years, increasing its sales from 300 billion to over 3 trillion yen. Suzuki was actively involved in developing compact car production for emerging markets, especially in India, where their joint venture with Maruti Udyog Ltd provided the company with 41.7% of the automotive market.

Osamu Suzuki was born in 1930 and became involved with Suzuki in 1958 by marrying the president's daughter. In 2015, he passed the position to his son Toshihiro Suzuki, and in 2021 he fully retired at the age of 91. According to reports, Toyota, in collaboration with Suzuki, is working on developing an affordable compact electric crossover.
It has also been announced that in 2025, the Suzuki Swift lineup will be expanded with a Sport version.
