The Navy assessed the likelihood of Russia capturing Odessa.

According to the spokesperson for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, the statement by the President of Ukraine regarding possible plans by Russia to capture Odessa currently lacks a basis. Russian troops cannot land on the coast of Odessa or the Odessa region due to a number of factors, including their unsuccessful experience in the past and challenging conditions at sea and on land.
One of the reasons is the lack of corresponding success on land. Because such military actions are usually not an independent type of operation, considering that this is the most complicated type of maritime operations, in principle. Therefore, landing troops now would be suicidal...
Pletenchuk also noted that the Ukrainian military is controlling the situation, preventing the occupiers from approaching the coast at a distance of less than 100 nautical miles. The route to Odessa is crossed by three serious water obstacles, complicating any attempt to land. According to Russian plans, capturing Odessa should ensure access to the borders with Moldova and Romania.
A representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dispels the myths about a possible landing in Odessa. He emphasizes the complexity of such operations and demonstrates the control of the Ukrainian army over the situation.Read also
