The European Union has extended certain sanctions against Russia: deadlines announced.

The European Union has extended sanctions due to the annexation of Crimea until June 23, 2026. These measures were introduced in June 2014 following Russia's annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol. The sanctions include a ban on the import of goods from occupied territories to EU countries, restrictions on infrastructure and financial investments, tourism services, and export of goods for Crimean enterprises.
In a statement from the EU Council, it is noted that Brussels reaffirms its firm position regarding the non-recognition of Russia's annexation and considers it a violation of international law.
The EU Council noted that the sanctions are related to Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The document emphasizes that since 2022, Russia has increased violations of Ukraine's sovereignty by launching an unprovoked war. Furthermore, the European Union is considering a complete abandonment of Russian gas.
