The most powerful shelling of Kryvyi Rih by Russian troops

On the night of Wednesday, July 16, Kryvyi Rih experienced one of the strongest shellings since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Russian troops attacked the city with a ballistic missile and 28 Shahed-type strike drones.

This was reported by the head of the city's defense council, Oleksandr Vilkul, during a live broadcast of the Day.LIVE program.

What is known about the consequences of the shelling of Kryvyi Rih

As a result of the attack, an industrial enterprise, energy infrastructure facilities, and residential buildings were damaged. Half of the city was left without electricity and water. However, thanks to the prompt work of utility workers, power and water supply were restored by morning, and trams and trolleybuses began to operate again.

According to Vilkul, extinguishing the fires lasted until five in the morning. Civilian casualties — unfortunately, a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

'They struck both the energy sector and industry, and residential areas. Unfortunately, in Kryvyi Rih, more than 100 civilians have died due to the war, including 16 children. The enemy acts like a terrorist', Vilkul emphasized.

Despite the destruction, the city continues to recover. Since the beginning of the war, about three thousand houses have already been repaired in Kryvyi Rih. Another 82 houses are in the process of restoration. The city provides assistance to residents from the local budget: people are being helped with the replacement of windows, doors, and roofs.

Significant interruptions in electricity supply have occurred in the city due to shelling.
