The Baltic States have begun the process of disconnecting from the energy system of Russia and Belarus. Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia have successfully completed this process and have stopped purchasing electricity from the Russian system since May 2022. The operators of these countries simultaneously launched tests regarding the efficiency of the new system.
Ukraine and Moldova are also part of the European energy system, which the Baltic States will join from February 9.
The Kaliningrad region has switched to an autonomous mode, while Russian gas continues to be supplied through Lithuania.
